Kalvakuntla Kavitha Highlights Farmers’ Issues & Stalled Development Projects During Jagruthi Janam Baata Tour in Adilabad

A Busy Day of Meetings and Field Visits

Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha spent a packed second day touring Adilabad district as part of the Jagruthi Janam Baata (People’s Path) program. During the visit, she interacted with citizens, intellectuals, journalists, and experts from various fields, highlighting local issues and seeking practical solutions. Kavitha also visited the RIMS Hospital, District Central Library, Nagoba Temple, and paid floral tributes at the Indravelli Martyrs’ Memorial.

Press Meet: Addressing Key District Issues

Speaking to the media, Kavitha said Adilabad was the fourth district covered under the Janam Baata initiative, which aims to reach all 33 districts of Telangana to understand people’s problems directly.

“Wherever we go, problems seem to welcome us,” she said. “After the formation of Telangana, some issues were solved, but many remain pending. We are taking these concerns to the government’s notice for resolution.”

Cotton Farmers’ Distress Takes Center Stage

Kavitha expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by cotton farmers, calling their condition “heart-wrenching.” She criticized both local leaders and government officials for failing to act on time despite being aware of the cyclone’s impact on cotton crops.

“The government’s attention is more on Jubilee Hills elections than on farmers’ problems. If there had been a by-election in a rural area, all the farmers’ issues would have been solved by now,” she remarked.

She urged authorities to ensure fair procurement by allowing moisture content checks after drying cotton, not before. Kavitha said she would discuss the issue with the CCI Chairman and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, seeking central assistance for farmers affected by recent storms.

Development Projects and Local Infrastructure

Raising concerns over delayed irrigation works, Kavitha questioned the steep rise in costs of the Chennakha–Korata project, from ₹300 crore to ₹2,000 crore, and demanded its immediate completion. She said finishing the remaining 10% of work would irrigate around 50,000 acres. She also mentioned pending works in Kupti and Sirichelim, demanding government focus on completing them soon.

Kavitha urged the administration to improve infrastructure in newly formed mandals, complete the 100-bed hospital in Boath, and construct a permanent building for the Welfare School. She also suggested relocating the proposed Adilabad airport outside the town to prevent displacement of residents and called for early completion of railway underbridges and overbridges.

Education and Employment Concerns

At the District Central Library, Kavitha met unemployed youth preparing for competitive exams. She accused the Congress government of “betraying job seekers” by not releasing the promised Job Calendar.

“They came to power promising jobs, but not a single new notification has been issued. The uncertainty continues,” she said.

Kavitha proposed mid-day meals and generators for libraries to help students who study long hours. She also condemned the government for not clearing fee reimbursement dues, which forced private colleges to shut down. “The government pays contractors but not educational institutions serving poor students,” she said, while supporting the colleges’ protest but urging them not to disrupt classes.

Visit to RIMS Hospital

Inspecting the RIMS Hospital, Kavitha found poor sanitation and lack of medical specialists. She demanded the appointment of a cardiologist, a committee on rising cancer cases, and improved facilities for students and patients. “A healthy environment in hospitals is a must. The government must increase the health budget,” she added.

Cultural and Emotional Moments

Later, Kavitha visited the Nagoba Temple in Keslapur, performing special prayers and learning about the temple’s history and significance from the Mesram clan.

She also paid homage at the Indravelli Martyrs’ Memorial, stating that their sacrifice remains a guiding force for social justice in Telangana. “Indravelli inspires us not to tolerate injustice. The Telangana achieved through struggle must deliver justice to all,” she said.

Consoling a Farmer’s Family

Concluding her tour, Kavitha visited Ruyyadi village in Talamadugu mandal, where she consoled the family of farmer Premender, who died by suicide due to financial distress. Calling the incident painful, she urged the government to take strong preventive measures to stop further farmer suicides.
