Former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha will begin her Jagruthi Janam Baata yatra on Saturday, a four-month tour that will take her across all 33 districts of Telangana.

The programme is being run under Telangana Jagruthi, the organisation she heads. Kavitha is expected to meet people in villages and towns, speaking with farmers, youth and women about day-to-day problems.

Leaders close to her said the yatra is meant to highlight issues like jobs, education and rising costs. Student groups and women’s organisations are likely to join in several districts.

This is Kavitha’s first major public campaign after her exit from the BRS. She has also said she will consider forming a new party if there is enough support from people during the tour.

With state politics at a turning point, the Janam Baata yatra is being seen as an important move, both for Kavitha’s own future and for those looking for an alternative voice in Telangana.
